The Gateway Rider Challenge
The Gateway Rider Challenge (GRC) program was designed to promote club participation, provide members with fun ideas of places to go and things to do, and to recognize those that promote the chapter through their participation. Since the GRC was developed for and by, the Gateway St. Louis Missouri Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) Chapter, it is open to chapter members only for participation.
Originally the idea for the
GRC was brought back from the Harley-Davidson 95th Anniversary in
HOW IT WORKS:
Each year prior to the riding
season the GRC committee meets to determine the events that will receive GRC
points. Typically these include participating in Chapter and Ladies of Harley
(LOH) meetings & events, places to visit, eating establishments, local,
state, national events, H-D dealerships, various riding challenges, and
miles ridden. Participation of GRC events between the 1st of the year and the
printing & distribution of the books is verified via the sign-up sheets
from the events. Once the books are available they are sold for a nominal fee.
After which the participation of events is then verified by a GRC committee
member at the event. For non-group/chapter events participation is verified by
presenting a GRC committee member some form of proof of participation, such as
a receipt, picture, etc. These events will be listed in the book along with the
type of proof required for validation. Starting and ending mileage can either
be verified by a GRC committee member or a service ticket from Gateway
Harley-Davidson, provided the ticket reflects the mileage, date, and VIN number
of your motorcycle. The GRC ends each year at the November chapter meeting and
all books must be turned in at that time. This facilitates the committee with
sufficient time to tabulate the books and determine the prize levels prior to
the Christmas party. Each year a rocker year pin is presented to everyone
that has turned in their book and it has been verified that they’ve
obtained the minimum level of points (as set forth by the GRC committee at the
beginning of the year).
